I was born in Toronto in 1977, in 1980 we moved to Oakville (a suburb of Toronto).  Most of my early life was spent in this smallish beautiful community until my last year in high school when I moved back to Toronto to attend “science geek school” at the Ontario Science Center which marked the first time I grocery shopped and cooked for myself!  I was at a complete loss – nothing resembled what my mom made – and I didn’t have the skill to cook from scratch the way she did.

Eventually after a Bachelor of Arts degree (majors in Business and Religion – yes you read that correctly) and a management consulting job in Washington DC I realised that my passion lay in helping people create health.  I became a yoga instructor primarily for my own practice and took a Mind Body Medicine course that was for people that had undergone health traumas (cancer, heart disease etc) and decided to use the same principals preventatively.  I created a 10 day stress management program and began pitching it to executives, corporate retreat coordinators, professional athletes and musicians.  Fortunately for me there were many people that were interested in feeling better!  One of the things I noticed was that my clients didn’t drink enough water and didn’t eat breakfast!  They didn’t know what to eat – so I offered them a bag of my mom’s cereal.  The cereal had been purchased by people that my mom and I knew for a few years at this point and the demand was slowly increasing.  Suddenly with the addition of my Executive Lifestyle Management program the demand increased dramatically and I thought “why couldn’t I figure out how to get this great recipe into stores”?!  This is where the idea of selling Mom’s Healthy Secrets in stores began…
